A lot of effort goes into making St. Margaret-St. John a vibrant and growing community. We depend on our parishioners to offer their time, talent and treasure to do the work we have been called to do. The following councils and commissions offer ways for you to become part of this growing community.
Adult Ministry
Our Adult Ministry works to provide opportunities for our older parishioners to be active members of our community. The Adult Ministry will plan outtings to lunch, sporting events, and other social activities. They also sponsor in-house events such as guest speakers, bingo and cards.
Bereavement Commission
Our bereavement group assists grieving families in preparing for loved one's funeral Mass celebration.
Building & Grounds Commission
Our building and grounds committee is tasked with the maintenance of the Church and grounds. We are always looking for handy people who have gifts that contribute to our team.
Finance Council
The finance council maintains the fiscal course necessary for SMSJ to be financially solvent. The council leads stewardship appeals and compiles periodic reports for our parishioners so we are all aware of the financial status of our parish.
Ministry of Care
The Ministry of Care reaches out to the sick, the home-bound, and to those in hospitals. The Ministry of Care meets regularly to update the list of these parishioners who are an important part of our Parish Community. Volunteers will visit those who are homebound maintaining human connection - being Christ to others. This ensures the needs of the individual (Communion, Reconciliation, etc.) can be addressed.
Parish Life Commission
The Parish Life Commission works to create a welcoming envioronment for all who attend and visit our church. The commission is responsible for the evangeliszation, greeter program, community building activities, as well as reaching out to new member of our community.
Pastoral Council
Pastoral Council is a consultative body which serves to advise the chuch administration regarding pastoral issues. The council is to assist the pastor in his leadership role of planning, organizing, initiating, promoting, coordinating and reviewing the evangelization, worship, religious education and service activities within the parish.
St. Vincent de Paul
The mission of the St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVDP) is to provide frontline emergency aid for those in need in our community. This may include the distribution of food, furniture, short-term utility expenses, and other life essentials. Our Parish SVDP funds go directly to those in need in our community.
Worship and Spiritual Enrichment Commission
The Worship and Spiritual Enrichment Commission is dedicated to deepening faith though our Mass experience and enrichment programs. The group will plan special feast day celebrations and prayer, mission experiences, and educational events.
Young Families Ministry
Young Family Ministry is a means for families with young children to provide spiritual development opportunities geared specifically to families with young children.
